Annual GNHHA Banquet

2011 Annual Banquet

This years Annual Banquet was held on Saturday, November 19th. 2011 at Amarante's in New Haven with close to 200 people in attendance.
The focus of our banquet is bring awareness of our programs and also to acknowledge those who have made a tremendous impact on improving life in our community.

The Greater New Haven Help Alliance Outstanding Community Service Award was created to honor an individual who fights for the future of New Haven by empowering youth to make a positive impact on the whole community, and this years award was given to Barbara Tinney.

Barbara Tinney
Executive Director
The New Haven Family Alliance

Barbara Tinney is a woman with her ear to the streets, her hand to the plow, and a heart for the children in our city. Her passion and commitment have been an asset to New Haven for many years. The work that she has done and continues to do through the New Haven Family Alliance
makes an invaluable impression on the lives and individuals touched by her programs.

And for that we say, thank you Barbara.
Looking Ahead...

At our banquet we also shared the Greater New Haven Help Alliance's 2012 vision and goals to expand our programming to further impact the lives of the youth in the Greater New Haven area.

We have been assessing the needs of our youth, looking at what programs have been cut due to the recession and we are working hard to help to fill the gap, to make a difference.

In 2012, we will be bringing the arts to the community with various children's programming at the branch libraries as well as various agencies in the Greater New Haven area.

In addition to arts programming we are working on implementing a high school readiness program and also along with a local agency to develop a program to deal with the problems of obesity in children.

We believe that we have to work to help our children become well rounded adults.  Our arts, health, and educational programs will all work together to help our children have an easier time achieving their dreams.

Executive Director Richard Everett and our Program Director Genevive "Gigi" Walker also shared our past successes and our dreams for the future.

In closing the night was a tremendous success, the food was excellent and a good time was had by all who attended.  We hope you can join us next year.
